Job Description

The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water, is recruiting for a Natural Resource Specialist 1/2 Flex in Anchorage.

What You Will Be Doing:

Are you interested in adjudicating and managing shore fishery leases on public lands used for commercial set net fishing? Do you want to help shape the quality of life for present and future Alaskans? If so, please apply for this career opportunity as an entry-to-mid-level Natural Resource Specialist within the Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW), Southcentral Regional Land Office (SCRO), Leasing Unit, Shore Fishery Leasing Program. We are looking for a collaborative and positive team member with an interest in public land management with a focus on state-owned tidelands used for commercial set net fishing.

The Department of Natural Resources' mission is to develop, conserve, and maximize the use of Alaska's natural resources in a way that is consistent with the public interest. DMLW's mission is "to provide for the appropriate use and management of Alaska's state-owned land and water, aiming toward maximum use consistent with the public interest." The Shore Fishery Leasing Program contributes to these missions by processing land use authorizations for commercial set net fishing activities.

Located on the ninth floor of the Robert B. Atwood building in downtown Anchorage, our office has a positive atmosphere geared towards collaboration and teamwork. It has a beautiful view of the Chugach Mountain Range and offers free parking. The Atwood building is near coffee shops, restaurants, shopping, the park strip, and the Coastal Trail system. Standard business hours are from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday through Friday. We currently require a 7.5-hour daily work schedule with options for an alternate workweek schedule and part-time remote work.
