Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is located on the serene island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands and is a family-owned and managed beach resort nestled in a beautiful sandy bay along the Caribbean Sea. Known for our famous all-inclusive package, friendly hospitality, exciting experiences and one-of-a-kind guest amenities, there's no better place to see life in the Virgin Islands than at Bolongo Bay. Our small, fun, lively and personable atmosphere allows us to offer a guest and employee experience that is unlike any other big all-inclusive resort and it's what makes us so unique and popular to this day. We are currently the only all-inclusive resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands. To be eligible for this position, candidates must either reside on St. Thomas or be able to relocate before the start date.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Watersports Instructor to join our team! This role involves teaching and guiding guests in a range of water-based activities, ensuring a safe, fun, and engaging experience for all participants. You’ll be responsible for helping guests build skills, confidence, and excitement in various water sports, such as kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, and sailing.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provide professional instruction in various water sports, tailored to the skill level of each participant, from beginners to advanced enthusiasts.
• Conduct safety briefings and equipment checks before each session to ensure a safe environment.
• Demonstrate and promote proper techniques and safety practices across all activities.
• Manage and maintain watersports equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition and stored correctly.
• Lead individual and group sessions, providing feedback, support, and encouragement to participants.
• Monitor weather and water conditions, assessing potential risks and adapting sessions accordingly.
• Foster a welcoming and energetic environment, enhancing guests' overall experience.
• Collaborate with other instructors and team members to coordinate activities, manage bookings, and maintain organized schedules.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proven experience as a Watersport’s Instructor or relevant role, with expertise in at least two or more activities (e.g., kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, and sailing).
• Strong knowledge of water safety, first aid, and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for teaching and working with diverse groups of people.
• Strong swimming ability and physical fitness, capable of performing in various water and weather conditions.
• Must be friendly, outgoing, energetic, self-motivated.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework in recreation, sports management, or outdoor education is a plus.
• Additional certifications in specific watersports (e.g., advanced sailing or windsurfing certifications).
• Previous experience working with youth and families in a recreational setting.
• Knowledge of local water conditions, weather patterns, and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., kayaks, paddleboards, sails) frequently throughout the day.
• Ability to work extended hours in outdoor conditions, including standing, swimming, and being in the water for prolonged periods.
• Proficient swimmer capable of maneuvering in various water conditions and assisting participants as needed.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
