The Senior IT Systems Administrator is an IT generalist who has experience working with a hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environment and with SaaS based applications. This person will be responsible for provisioning and supporting the servers, network, and end-user computer infrastructure, to support the ongoing and evolving research efforts at The AI Institute. What you will do Maintain, configure, and support, the computer systems, network devices (wired and wireless), servers, and virtualized environments Troubleshoot hardware and systems errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues Maintain documentation of IT procedures Automate processes for monitoring and patching IT systems Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions What we are looking for Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required Minimum of 5 years of network administration, or system administration experience Strong knowledge of IT systems, software, hardware, and networking protocols Strong troubleshooting skills Experience with providing first level IT support for in-office and remote employees Experience working in a mixed (Windows, Mac, Linux) desktop environment Experience with IT systems monitoring Experience with IT process automation Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written Ability to work in The AI Institute's office in Cambridge, MA 5 days per week Bonus System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields Experience managing a Google Workspace environment Experience with Google Cloud Working knowledge of virtualization and containerization Experience analyzing, troubleshooting and optimizing WiFi These attributes are great to have but not required for our candidates.
